Carondelet is located in the Southeastern section of the city of St. Louis. At one point it operated as it’s own city but became part of St. Louis in 1870. Founded in 1767 as its own town, Carondelet has a long history that predates much of the rest of the city. As a result, the neighborhood is home to some of the oldest homes in the city, of both French and German origin, while most of the housing was built between 1880 and 1930, making it a historic place to visit or live in. The neighborhood is home to the wonderful and popular Carondelet Park and has seen much growth in recent years as well as the construction of new homes.
